Foodies adventure #1: Antipodean Cafe

Hello !! It's been quite a while since I blogged in English.

As this will be related to a food post later about Ben's@Pavilion KL (check it out! ^^) in English I blogged before, so yeap!
English for this post too heeh.

Last Wednesday, after the so-called last day for exam, *well actually it's not but everyone feels like it is since we only left Paper  1/objective questions*
What's more happier than having a prosperous meal to reward ourselves after suffering in the exam for around... 1 freaking month?!
(2 more weeks till it ends T.T)

My friends and I do not have a proper plan of where to go for our brunch since that paper finished around 10+AM, but we decided to be around the area near to KLCC so that we can go there and walk around.

And the adventurous journey begins.... *drum rolls*

We finally make up our mind to head to a cafe called ANTIPODEAN in the lrt haha. #nevertoolate

Antipodean

A cafe straddling across Asia which serves a wide variety of healthy breakfast/brunch, quality coffees, delicious cakes and biscuits that offer a uniquely "antipodean" style cafe food menu. Used only quality coffee beans which directly purchased from their partners rather than going through the brokerage system and roasted at their own Cafes by Indonesia's top specialty roaster, Merdeka Coffee. All their cakes are baked in-house using recipes handed down by famous Kiwi chefs (and relatives).

Some extra knowledge:
  1. In Geography, the antipodes of any place on Earth is the point on the Earth's surface which is diametrically opposite to it.
  2. In the Northern Hemisphere, "the Antipodes" is often used to refer to Australia & New Zealand and "Antipodeans" to their inhabitants.

So we get down at Ampang Park LRT and trying to get direction from people around (Google map not really useful at that time)

We're kinda lost and clueless on how to get to Menara Tan & Tan before we found Antipodean.
Hmm.. cutting out all the depends-on-sixth-sense-searching-and-asking process, we finally make all the way to.... Antipodean! It's around 10-15 minutes walk from lrt *big applause*

Le entrance.

The cafe is located at an inconspicuous corner beside the entrance of Menara Tan & Tan, be careful not to missed and overlook it when searching for it.

Interior

PS: The phone photo quality maybe a little blur and too bright due to the lighting + natural light from the outside ><

Not much people yet when we reached Antipodean, but the flow started to increase around 12 noon.

Avoid going there at peak hours if you prefer a more serene environment =)

Child play corner

They even provide a small corner for children! So considerate and thoughtful of them ^^

Time to order food!!

Chalkboard menu on the wall.

Well one thing that I dislike is they do not have a proper menu for us to look at as you have to read their menu on the wall and then tell the waiters your order when you're done.

I read some reviews on Antipodean before and most of it said it's quite inconvenient if it's at peak hours. Imagine you're standing and reading the menu in front of the wall with so many people walking around you O.o

Luckily there're not much people that time so we can take our time to read and choose ^^

While waiting for the food.

Love the little details on the table.

Our food order are served, Hohoho!

I have always wanted to try out Antipodean's breakfast because I had been looking at many mouth-watering photos taken from others in Facebook and Instagram!

Now I finally have a chance to chump in their food into my stomach Wheeeee! *happy kid face*

#1 Big Breakfast - RM20
As the photo above shown, Big Breakfast consists of toasted bread, mushroom, hashbrown, bacon and scrambled eggs.

This is the one that I saw on social media sharing site for several times, It's kind of their signature breakfast. Finally it's my turn to try it out heeh ^^

Aesthetic appeal: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5

Their scrambled eggs is moist and soft, you can sprinkle some black pepper on it to increase the flavor too. Love the thick hashbrown a lot, it's not like the commercial one where you can barely find the potatoes fillings. It's not too salty and you can feel mouthful of potatoes in your mouth.
Crispy bread, delicious mushrooms and bacons... mmm!

It's definitely a substantial breakfast, love this!!
I considered the price as reasonable since the portion is quite big for a person, you can also share it with your friends and try out the others like how we did =D

#2 Coromodel Green - RM18
It consists of salmon, feta cheese, walnut, figs, rocket and balsamic glaze according to the menu.

Aesthetic appeal: 4/5
Taste: 2/5
Price: 2/5

We ordered this out of curiosity and it turned out to be a salad, I couldn't recognize what are the ingredients actually except the common ones ヽ(๏∀๏ )ノ

Personally, I'm not a fan of salad and raw food so this is definitely not to my liking ٩(×̯×)۶
However my friends said it's quite okay overall, just that the cheese is a little too salty. This maybe your cup of tea if you love salad and Feta cheese.

#3 Jeremy Coney - RM12

Jeremy Coney is actually the name of a healthy juice that made up of apple, carrot, celery and mint loop.

Sounds too healthy eh? Haha.

Aesthetic appeal: 3/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 2/5

The juice is quite refreshing after having the breakfast. It brings the sweetness of apple and carrot when you first drink it and you can feel the minty taste at the end.

I would prefer this juice way more than Coromodel Green if you ask for comparison.

Looking at these cakes and biscuits photos right now makes me regret as we didn't order any of their desserts and coffee to try out  (*´д`*)

Definitely coming back for another visit , too many things to try haha.

Ohh and forget to mention,
they served breakfast all day long, that means you can eat their breakfast as dinner too if it happens to be crowded in morning.

Overall:

Ambiance: 8/10
Service: 6/10
Food Serving Speed: Moderate
Price range: up to RM30
